OpenStudy (ladylauren):

is anyone good at slopes?

OpenStudy (steve816):

Yeah, I hold the world record.

OpenStudy (mhchen):

I hold the universal record.

OpenStudy (ladylauren):

Alec calculated the slope of line AC between points A and B. Avis calculated the slope of line AC between points B and C. Both Alec and Avis drew triangles, as shown below, to calculate the slopes: Which statement is correct about the slopes calculated by Alec and Avis if both calculated the slopes accurately? Both calculated the slope as 3. Both calculated the slope as 1 over 3. Alec calculated the slope as 1 over 3 and Avis calculated it as 3. Alec calculated the slope as 3 and Avis calculated it as1 over 3.

OpenStudy (mhchen):

Uh, can you screenshot the graph?

OpenStudy (mhchen):

I wish open study provided a graph-drawing option.

OpenStudy (ladylauren):

OpenStudy (risingtotop):

mhchen sorry to stalk but can you help me after you finish this problem ... it's urgent

OpenStudy (mhchen):

Okay so the slope is rise over run, you can use any of the triangles. So if we use the first triangle: It rises by 2 runs by 6 So slope is 2 / 6 or 1/3 If we use the second triangle: It rises by 4 runs by 12 So slope is 4 / 12 which is also 1/3

OpenStudy (risingtotop):

isn't the slope 2 up and 1 right?

OpenStudy (mhchen):

I can't help after this, I'm in class and got my own mathy math :P

OpenStudy (ladylauren):

so there both 1/3

OpenStudy (mhchen):

Yeap.

OpenStudy (ladylauren):

thx.

OpenStudy (ladylauren):

can you help with 1 more?
