Why were Copernicus's ideas about the order of the universe deemed to be dangerous to Church thinking?

The early Church thought that the EARTH was in the center of the Universe, Copernicus was one of the first people to VOICE the opinion that the SUN was in the center of the universe. The Church was afraid because that went against what they thought and what they taught - therefore it would teach people that they can learn things from people other than the Church. Does that make sense?
