I need quick motion (physics) help. MEDAL will be awarded! 1) Is it possible to have a negative position? Explain.

This is a position vs time graph, it is possible for this to happen in real life, but not with a motion detector.
Why can't it work with a motion detector?
Think about it, let's say you have the motion detector at 0 in the number line, and say that the positive side on the number line indicates positive position and negative side on the number line indicate negative position. From the graph about, you are walking towards the motion detector, so it is reaching zero, but once you get to negative, (aka walk past the motion detector) it won't be detecting it because the sensor only detects the positive side.
OK got it. And what about for the negative situation without the presence of a motion detector?
Just think about an object. When you are getting closer to the object, you are reaching 0 on the graph. When you walk past the object, it becomes negative.
