I need help quickly!!!!! At a bargain store, Tanya bought 3 items that each cost the same amount. Tony bought 4 items that each cost the same amount, but each was $2.25 less than the items that Tanya bought. Both Tanya and Tony paid the same amount of money. What was the individual cost of each person's items? (a) Write an equation. Let x represent the cost of one of Tanya's items. (b) Solve the equation. Show your work. (c) Check your solution. Show your work. (d) State the solution in complete sentences.

OpenStudy (mai_mai_312):

i think the equation is \[3x=4(x-2.25)\] (the solution was 9) but when i went to check my solution, it was not correct.

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Your equation is correct.

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

x does equal 9.

OpenStudy (mai_mai_312):

im confused because when i checked the solution, i got \[18=27\]

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Don't forget to calculate Tony's price as well.

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

3(9) = 27 Not 18

OpenStudy (mai_mai_312):
