Which of the following is an example of a scientific inference? (2 points) The butterfly has bright colors that make it easy for me to see when it lands on a plant. The insect probably released a sticky liquid because it is upset and trying to defend itself. The ants live in colonies and they follow trails to find possible food sources. The bee stung me on the arm after I waved my hands trying to scare it away.

OpenStudy (mikey):

@Directrix HBU?

Directrix (directrix):

What is an inference? An inference is an interpretation or an explanation of an observation. The observation is made using our senses. To make an inference, we connect what we observe to prior knowledge and the new information observed through our senses. An inference can be made from more than one observation, and it is not just a guess. http://elsaghirscience.weebly.com/inferring.html

OpenStudy (sadiestevens17):

That is what I believe it is as well

OpenStudy (sadiestevens17):

@mikey why do you think it's B?

OpenStudy (mikey):

just an educated guess

Directrix (directrix):

Option B sounds like a guess. I am tempted to go with this option although I am not certain that is is the correct answer. >> The ants live in colonies and they follow trails to find possible food sources.

OpenStudy (sadiestevens17):

OpenStudy (mikey):
