You can read off the length and the width of this rectangle from the diagram. The formula for Perimeter, P, is P = 2W + 2L.

OpenStudy (haleyright):

How would I solve the problem? Step by step?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Look at the diagram. Can you read off the length of the rectangle? What is the distance from x=-6 to x=6?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I did give you some instructions, and would hope that you'd try to use them. L represents the length of the rectangle, and W the width. The perimeter is P = 2W + 2L.

OpenStudy (haleyright):

Ok, give me a sec to try to put it all together please. ;--;

OpenStudy (mathmale):

L=? W=? P=2L+2W=?

OpenStudy (haleyright):

W= -L + P/2 ?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Haley, the length of the rectangle is 16 units. That would be from x=-8 to x=+8. Look at the diagram again. What is the width? count the number of units from top to bottom. W=? L=16 units

OpenStudy (haleyright):

Ok. ._.
