To keep heating costs down for a structure, architects want the ratio of surface area to volume as small as possible. An expression for the ratio of the surface area to volume for the square prism shown is 2b+4h/bh. Find the ratio when b = 15 ft and h = 10 ft.

OpenStudy (phi):

in (2*b+4*h)/(b*h) replace each "b" with 15 and each "h" with 10 can you do that ?

OpenStudy (soggylearnsandhelps):

7/15?

OpenStudy (phi):

you should get (2*15+4*10)/(15*10) which you can simplify if you know arithmetic

OpenStudy (soggylearnsandhelps):

I don't XD

OpenStudy (phi):

you may have seen PEDMAS (or something like that) to remember what do do first P for parens so look at the stuff in the parens (2*15+4*10) E for exponents (we don't have any) DM for divide or multiply we have multiplies so we have to do 2*15. can you do 2 times 15 ?
