Check answer i got 10 What is the value of x? https://static.k12.com/nextgen_media/assets/8080664-NG_GMT_F_03_U03_Quiz_03.png @DanJS

OpenStudy (mhchen):

Checking 10: If you plug 10 into the rightmost-angle expression: [6(x-10)] = [6(10-10)] = 6(0) = 0 So I don't think it's 10. You set up your equation like 3x - 3 = [6(x-10)] right?

OpenStudy (jfruihvifjokp):

yes

OpenStudy (jfruihvifjokp):

how bout 60 ?

OpenStudy (mhchen):

If I were to solve this: 3x - 3 = 6(x-10) <-- given 3x - 3 = 6x - 60 <-- distributive property of equality 3x - 3 + 60 = 6x <-- added both sides by 60 -3 + 60 = 6x - 3x <-- subtracted both sides by 3x 57 = 3x <-- simplfied (57/3) = x <-- divided both sides by 3 57/3 should give an answer. Try that out. Also if you've had plugged (60) into the equation to check it, it'd be way off.
