I think ... b. the marbles "imitate" the protons and neutrons in the nucleus. So, you're not "JUST" observing them, (actually you're not obs them at all !) you're trying to compare the behaviour of the nucl with that of the marbles. That's what makes it a "model". the others are either instruments used in models, or tools to construct it. http://perendis.webs.com
