OpenStudy (ilianapaulk):

A scientist conducted one trial of an experiment and got unexpected results. How can the scientist increase confidence in the results?

OpenStudy (sapphiremoon):

Completing more trials will confirm or deny the validity of that first experiment.

OpenStudy (osprey):

Depending on the experiment, that may mean a LOT of repeat trials. Seek TRENDS in what they've got, and look for MISTAKES both in the expt. AND in the theory. Exc eg happening at the moment in US with the PE. Polling to try to anticipate who's in the lead and who's likely to win. UK recently got polling wrong ... they do take big samples = more trials, possibly. http://perendis.webs.com

sorry im late but thank you
