OpenStudy (polloppollop):

Which of the following equals 1/6 when evaluating f(-2)? a.f(x)=2^(x-2) B.f(x)=-2^(x-6) C.f(x)=-2^(x-2) D.f(x)=2^(x-8)

OpenStudy (phi):

looks like a typo. none of the choices work

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

When you have a negative exponent the base goes down to the denominator with the exponent as positive. \(\large x^{-a} = \frac{1}{x^a}\) You need to make sure that when you substitute \(x\) for -2, that the exponent will be -6. That way you can have \(\frac{1}{6}\). However, it doesn't seem like none of the choices work in this case.
