Can anyone throw me some questions of Approximating Derivative unit and help me?

OpenStudy (osprey):

Draw a curve, any curve on some paper. Select a point on the curve. THAT is our REERENCE point. Now, select another point, maybe a couple of inches away ON the curve. Draw a straight line between REF point and FIRST selected point. Look at the slope of the line. Now, select a SECOND point, preferably closer than the first was, and draw a SECOND line between REF and SECOND point. You should see the SLOPE of the line CHANGING as you get NEARER the REF point. If one of the OTHER points is CLOSE to the REF point, then if you look at the TANGENT to the curve at that point, the TANGENT, and your line should look more or less parallel. That is the SLOPE OF THE CURVE AT THE REFERENCE POINT YOU CHOSE. Welcome to DIFFERENTIAL CALCULUS. Have fun, and be brillliant. http://perendis.webs.com
