OpenStudy (alexh107):

Difference quotient for y = x^2+x

OpenStudy (alexh107):

I finally started to understand how to find the difference quotient for f(x) but now that it says y I don't know what to do

OpenStudy (marihelenh):

For your purposes and nearly all in the future, f(x) and y are interchangeable. f(x) shows the function of x, or where it is located on the y axis relative to x. So just remember, f(x)=y

OpenStudy (alexh107):

Could you help me set the problem up because for some reason I just can't seem to visualize it. Maybe I'll understand it better once I see it.

OpenStudy (alexh107):
