The threat of war between European nations was exponentially increasing right up until WWI because of the revolutions going on in Europe and the purchases being made in areas such as weaponry and defense. The more a country spent on weapons, or simply the more weapons they had in their control, the bigger threat they were. This dramatically increased tension between European nations until war inevitably broke out.
