Please help @3mar
@mathmale
would it be ii and iv or just iv
@.Sam. @Directrix
Explain the "horizontal line test."
A function has an inverse only if .... (can you finish this sentence?)
only if the line does not intercept at any point @mathmale
Not quite. If you begin with a graph and draw a horiz. line thru it, there could be one of three possible outcomes: 1) the line intersects the graph once, 2) the line intersects the graph twice or more, 3) the line doesn't intersect the graph at all.
oh ok
so would that mean that my answer is wrong?
@mathmale
I didn't say that, did I? I'm more interested in whether you understand the concepts involved here. Look at the first graph. Does it pass or fail the horiz. line test? Explain.
fail because it intercepts the graph twice
@mathmale
ii and iv pass because it only intercepts once
@mathmale
You answered my question correctly. Give me a minute more, please.
Excuse me, but I don't see your answer to the original question. You need to choose A, B, C or D.
a
that would be ii and iv
@mathmale
I agree. Nice work.
thank you for your help
