OpenStudy (jesselacompte):

Blood that leaves the heart is bright red. It travels through arteries and capillaries. When it reaches the veins on its way back to the heart, it is darker red. Explain why this change occurs.

OpenStudy (jesselacompte):

help plz I will meadel

OpenStudy (emilee02):

i had this ? yesterday hold on

OpenStudy (emilee02):

cuz it has lower oxygen leval

OpenStudy (emilee02):

the answer is because the oxygen leaves the blood

OpenStudy (seanstewart16):

mmhm, the body takes the oxygen out of the blood and sends it back to heart to get reoxygenated. this is a bio question tho, not earth science

OpenStudy (osprey):

blood goes, I think, from the heart to the lungs where it picks up oxygen OXYHAEMOGLOBIN being the long winded term which is one colour. When blood delivers said oxygen to the various bits and piece in the body it becomes de oxygenated and changes colour to blue, maybe. above is a bit of a guess.
