Yes, but that definition doesn't fit in with math. If two lines coincide (one is drawn right on top of the other), the system of equations is dependent. In this case, the illustration shows 2 lines that cross one another in one place. Does that tell you anything? Does this system have a solution? Is this system consistent or not (try to find the mathematical meaning for "consistent" in your textbook or online reading materials). Are the two equations of lines dependent or independent?
