A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free. I do not except the union to be dissolved --- I do not except the house to fall--- but I do except it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other
Basically Lincoln was against slavery, and he pretty much said at school geek pointed out. Meaning that America will once again be United that it won't fall down or collapse. It won't fail as a country.
