@osprey

OpenStudy (bonnieisflash1.0):

can you help

OpenStudy (bonnieisflash1.0):

plz

OpenStudy (osprey):

matter has mass it does take up space

OpenStudy (osprey):

microscopes can/are definitely needed to see some matter

OpenStudy (bonnieisflash1.0):

so only liquid takes up space

OpenStudy (osprey):

I'd go for the first two

OpenStudy (osprey):

solids liquids and gases ALL take up space

OpenStudy (osprey):

after all, what are you sitting on ? a chair ? that takes up space

OpenStudy (bonnieisflash1.0):

can't i go with It has mass and can be seen without a microscope because you said it doesn't take up space

OpenStudy (osprey):

'fraid not. some matter you HAVE to have a mic to see it. The space the matter occupies is small but it IS there

OpenStudy (bonnieisflash1.0):

thx for helping

OpenStudy (osprey):

that's ok, I hope I have been of help ...

OpenStudy (bonnieisflash1.0):

you have

OpenStudy (osprey):

Hi A single proton or neutron or electron is as much matter as is a hydgrogen atom, a cup of coffee, the chair I guess you're sitting on, or Notre Dame cathedral. I can see Notre Dame. you can drink the coffee, BUT you need various sorts of MICROSCOPES to see atoms, protons etc. You also need microscopes to see the matter in germs, say. They ALL occupy space.
