By definition, it's the domain. Domain is like the 'x'-bar, the independent variable, the explanatory variable, whatever you call it. It's what affects the outcome of the other variable, so we'd call that an 'input', and the affected/response/y-variable as 'output'.
Function is the equation that takes the input values, and uses it to make output values. An ordered pair shows which input value gave what output value. (Domain, Range) and Range is the Output value
