Announcement: OpenBrainly Applications Now Open! Hi everyone! Big announcement today about the OpenStudy Moderation Program. What’s new with OpenStudy Moderation? The OpenStudy Moderation Program is reopening and will soon accept new Ambassadors and Mods-in-Training! Ambassadors who are eligible are invited to apply for a new moderation training program. OS users interested in OpenStudy Moderation are invited to apply as well! This new training program will be a bit different. Ambassadors and Moderators-in-training will join a new branch of the Mod Team called OpenBrainly, and will be trained to moderate and/or help out on both OpenStudy and Brainly. Why are new Mods going to be trained to mod on both sites? Won’t that be confusing? Brainly and OpenStudy are working together to build the world’s largest student-powered social learning community. Now we have a chance to bring our Mod Teams together as well! Leaders from both the Brainly and OpenStudy Mod Teams will be invited to help train members of the new program, and following the training period, OpenBrainly members can choose to be a part of either OR both moderation teams, in addition to having their own special communication channel. OpenStudy and Brainly have different moderation tools, but since the sites and their guidelines are similar, it shouldn’t be hard to master moderation on both sites. What are the requirements of the OpenBrainly program? To be eligible for the program, you must: -be at least 13 years of age -be an active user on either OpenStudy or Brainly, or both -have an excellent record of conduct on either or both sites -apply using the application form here! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1WSjCeimvOJx9C7VcT9YAFHpseltVGx9mQmUpP2dnRj4 If you are selected to enter into the OpenBrainly Program as a Moderator, we ask that you: -try to complete at least 50 moderation actions per week on either OpenStudy, Brainly, or both. (This can take as little as 30 minutes a week.) -agree to follow our Moderator Code of Conduct. What if I only want to moderate on either OpenStudy OR Brainly? That’s fine! All we ask is that you at least learn HOW to moderate on both sites - you might find that you like working on both sites, and with both teams. Once you’ve completed the training, you’re welcome to complete your weekly moderation requirement on either or both sites. What if I’m already a Moderator on OpenStudy? Does anything change for me? If you’re a Mod on OpenStudy, you’ll continue moderating here as usual, with one change - our team will have an updated set of moderation guidelines to follow by the end of this week, and you will be asked to moderate according to these new guidelines. OpenStudy’s Code of Conduct won’t change, but the new guidelines will offer additional guidance about handling different situations, and suggested actions to take. If you’d like to get involved with the OpenBrainly program, we would love your help with training new moderators on OpenStudy moderation, and mentoring them. Please contact 5ever if you’d like to volunteer to help, and you may be selected. What if I have a different question? Post it here, or PM 5ever!

alones (alones):

Wait so you can fill in that application, but still they will choose you? Or is it, whoever filled it in can be a mod

OpenStudy (5ever):

@AloneS Anyone on OpenStudy (Openstudy Ambassador or non-Ambassador OS user) can fill out an application, but they may not be chosen. Everyone who applies will receive follow-up with an explanation of their application decision.

alones (alones):

Oh thank you, that explains everything.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Brainly allows answers.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

@5ever

likeabossssssss (likeabossssssss):

yay

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

I can finally re-apply for ambassadorship! *jumps for joy* This time i'll be a better one!

iYuko (iyuko):

Why is @5ever a mod?

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

5ever is the community manager from Brainly unless I am mistaken.

iYuko (iyuko):

I see.

iYuko (iyuko):

I don't feel like going through the process again. Ill just be a user.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Wait, I just noticed something... Weren't you a ambassador? Or at least announced as one?

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

QUESTION, How will you contact us to give us a response?

OpenStudy (5ever):

@iYuko I'm the Community Manager on OpenStudy and brainly.com.

OpenStudy (5ever):

@Jaynator495 You'll be contacted on OpenStudy.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Ah, ok.

thomaster (thomaster):

Are there any prospects on upgrades for the OS mod tools? This is basically the reason why most moderators left the site. We've been asking for better tools (read: tools that are actually effective) for years, but in the 3-4 years I'm around nothing ever changed.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Well i mean, quite a few of those I have added to my extension for mods ._.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

I have a question regarding one of the requirements... About a user being active, is there a set guideline as to how long a user is recommended to be on (on either or both sites), and is daily commitment a part of it? Many ambassadors of this site are now inactive, myself included due to personal reasons such as school and work, so I would like to ask on their behalf as well should they at a later date view this post. ^_^

thomaster (thomaster):

@Jaynator495 We need changes implemented in the website. Not through an extension.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Fair enough.

jabez177 (jabez177):

I agree with @EclipsedStar. Will there be certain guidelines we will have to follow as to how many hours we are able to stay on OpenStudy per day to participate?

hartnn (hartnn):

'try to complete at least 50 moderation actions per week' What if I am on a 10 day vacation without internet access... or if I have an exam that lasts couple of weeks and would not like to be on OpenBrainly only for that time ?? Are those strict guidelines? Or something like 200 moderation actions per month will also suffice? Or would it be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Directrix (directrix):

@5ever I would like to suggest that there be an evaluation procedure for current and future moderators on OpenStudy. To my thinking and observation, there has been an uneven execution of duties by moderators. Perhaps a rotating group of OS members in good standing could provide feedback on the perceived performance, kindness, and helpfulness of the moderators. This private feedback would go directly to the OS Community Manager for consideration.

candycove (candycove):

Interesting.

OpenStudy (samsungfanboy):

^ bleh.

OpenStudy (5ever):

@thomaster @EclipsedStar @hartnn Being online daily is not required. Completing 50 actions weekly is what’s recommended, but what's most important is that you're trying your best to be a great Mod :) And if you ever have a conflict or anything and need to be away for a few days or an extended period of time, you’ll have an opportunity to share that and then the program leaders and everyone on the team will then know you aren’t around. @Directrix Interesting idea! For now in the OpenBrainly program, there will be evaluation by Mentors (selected current Moderators) to make sure Mods are active and effectively handling situations. And if you ever have a concern about a mod’s conduct, please email abuse@openstudy.com.

KjSaif (kjsaif):

cool! @5ever!

OpenStudy (leenathan):

how old?

Nnesha (nnesha):

`at least 13 years old`

OpenStudy (leenathan):

good im 14 btw is ambassador open?

OpenStudy (kevin):

Brainly is available in Indonesia language, is openBrainly available in Indonesia language too?

KjSaif (kjsaif):

who knows because I don't see anyone Indonesian here.

KjSaif (kjsaif):

on openstudy

NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

I don't think so :(

NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

I mean that lang is not here :/

KjSaif (kjsaif):

well good luck guys! :)

NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

Thanks. I wanna join :)

OpenStudy (kevin):

If it's available, I want to join in Indonesia version. lol

OpenStudy (5ever):

@Kevin I'm afraid not, OpenBrainly will only be linked to the Brainly US Mod program, but if you have a brainly.co.id account you can always apply to be a mod there as well :) To inquire you can email contact@brainly.co.id

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

i want to be mod but applications take a long time

Zeronknight (zeronknight):

@5ever Thanks! I'm really excited and happy to see the programs are back up and running! I'm really sure this will bring back people, and likely more new users for both OS and Brainly! Good luck to everyone who is going to apply/applied!

KjSaif (kjsaif):

^^ good luck! :)

OpenStudy (leenathan):

@ i hope i can become mod so i can help maintain open study to your standards

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Ah shoot now that I have messed with Brainly I wish I said mod for both now :>

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Appreciative of the opportunity however.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Thanks for the clarification! I'll think about it...maybe if I can configure my scheduling with tutoring in libraries, I can focus more time here and Brainly (quite frankly I haven't checked out Brainly for over a year now...oops).

Elsa213 (elsa213):

@Glogangg

alones (alones):

Waitt 5ever, so you say it's 13+ who can signup..tho Brainly said if you're highscool level and higher than you can be choosen :|

OpenStudy (hectoroftroy):

Thank you Thomaster for your insightful and apt request for better mod tools.

pooja195 (pooja195):

@5ever the alt accounts for OS isn't really valid considering that fact that many users may not know their alts or possibly could have forgotten names. I've had users ask me to ip check their ip so that they can list their alts, however ip checks on OS are not reliable. So I feel that this question should be removed from the application- just a thought.

OpenStudy (derricklewis):

it will not let me fill out the form

OpenStudy (derricklewis):

|dw:1478175853527:dw|

OpenStudy (leenathan):

ummm btw is openstudy really famous?

OpenStudy (derricklewis):

yes sir

jabez177 (jabez177):

@leenathan, it depends on what your definition "really famous" is. :)

umerlodhi (umerlodhi):

b

KjSaif (kjsaif):

@umerlodhi?

OpenStudy (alivejeremy):

Please tell me we're not going to have 12 and 13 year old's as moderators.

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

we will

OpenStudy (alivejeremy):

bruh...

OpenStudy (alivejeremy):

When is Brainly going to invite users here? All I see on openstudy.. is Brainly everywhere. :l However, on Brainly I see no OpenStudy O-o

OpenStudy (giitter):

Oh that maybe the reason why os is not all over brainly then. If brainly is taking over os then that might be the reason

OpenStudy (alivejeremy):

Openstudy still kinda ded while Brainly is alive? Not fair. Give us our site back. Get yall money back too..

OpenStudy (giitter):

lol

OpenStudy (saldis):

I am replying I want to be a Mod please.

OpenStudy (giitter):

Here is the link if you would like to be a mod @saldis https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1WSjCeimvOJx9C7VcT9YAFHpseltVGx9mQmUpP2dnRj4/alreadyresponded?edit_requested=true

OpenStudy (derricklewis):

@charleskelsey1

OpenStudy (tteesstt8080):

Ah, this ended... I was considering Brainly, because I used to be Expert until I went inactive over the summer and went down to Ambitious. xD I'll wait!

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

So it says that the application period for moderators has ended, but is there any chance of it re-opening any time soon?

OpenStudy (unavailabilityy):

OpenBrainly Application The application period has now ended. Thanks for applying! This form was created using Google Forms. Create your own Google Forms What is this?!?!?!!??!?!!

OpenStudy (airjordan200):

ikr

OpenStudy (unavailabilityy):

@5ever when you post ANOTHER one of these with a brand new form, do you think you could tag me here too so that I can get myself right into the form? :)

OpenStudy (unavailabilityy):

So then I won't miss it :P

OpenStudy (airjordan200):

^^^^^^

OpenStudy (leenathan):

i got suspended cuz of a prank i only did that once to so that really unfair

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

might want to take that up with a mod or something, but if the suspension is already over, you should probably just leave that in the past

OpenStudy (leenathan):

ok thanks
