Anyone have good writing topics or writing ideas for 1st graders?

Is it creative writing or an essay? In first grade I wrote an essay about the sun (still have it, pretty good by my standards) and a compare/contrast about cats and dogs. (Don't remember what else, must not have been important, lol.)

Let the child use their imagination:)
1. a story about a princess/warrior/whatever they're interested in
2. pets and animals
3. what fun things they would want to do on a vacation
4. what the best day ever would be
5. what they know about (insert educational topic here)
6. what they do with their family
etc, etc....
