In three to four well-developed paragraphs, you will compare and contrast your two favorite stories from the lesson. Remember to be specific about things the stories and people had in common, as well as specific things that were different. Just need a little help :) Ill post the stories if you'd need them.. :)
i kinda need them .........
1st Story Mystery Guy See, there are a lot of people in life who will tell you that you can get something for nothing, that if you only knew it, some miracle solution would solve all your problems. But you don’t have to believe them. You can instead believe in reality. What exactly is reality? To help you understand, let’s play the guessing game again. If you like movies, you’ve probably heard of this person I’m gonna describe to you. This guy was really involved in high school. He was active in things like school musicals, sports, the debate team, and student government. He graduated and, like many of his classmates, attended his state university. Well this guy was doing quite well in college, too, but something just wasn’t right. He wasn’t looking forward to graduation and he hated his classes. Deep down, my man knew he didn’t want the typical 9-to-5 career most of his friends were going after. The only thing he really enjoyed was performing, and he wanted to be an actor. So when he was 22, he made a big decision and decided to leave college, just two credits shy of graduation. So he drove out to Hollywood with $325 in his pocket, ready to start his acting career. Hey, as soon as he showed up, Hollywood had a huge welcome party for him and all the producers said: “Thank you so much for starting your career. We were just waiting to make you famous—here’s $10 million. Call us whenever you want to do a blockbuster.” You don’t believe that right—because that’s not reality. Reality is he had to start at the bottom and work his way up, slowly. And when I say bottom, I mean bottom. This guy was so broke, he couldn’t afford acting lessons. Fortunately, he’d seen his father work six days a week for 36 years, so he knew what to do. He dressed up in a chicken outfit in 100 degree weather to promote a local restaurant, sweat just pouring through him all day long. He worked as a limo driver, delivered refrigerators, and even worked for a soap opera writer. To save money he lived with eight guys in a tiny apartment. They had absolutely no furniture; they all slept on the floor, and if I know guys, I’m guessing that place was nasty. Well, eventually he saved up enough money to take acting classes, and he hired one of the top acting coaches in Hollywood. He went to class for six years. And then he began getting small roles on TV and soap operas and even in movies. He met another actress, and they began dating. Finally, he won his first starring role in a movie. It was a small movie, being filmed in Europe. The movie was being edited and was almost ready to be released when civil war broke out in the country they were filming in. Guess what happened to this brother’s movie—gone, the film destroyed. To make things worse, he came back to America and was dumped by his girlfriend. But this guy kept at it. He took any role he could find, even if it was tiny. Each role got bigger than the last one. And each movie made him a little more famous. Finally today, all this hard work has paid off, and at age 48 this guy has been in over 40 movies and is known to audiences all over the world. His name is Brad Pitt. See, the reality. Even for actors, success doesn’t come from a single moment. It comes from working hard for years. From handling your business day after day, until one day you look up and say, “Wow, I accomplished the impossible.”
2nd Story Post-it Note Let me ask you a question: Do you know how those little Post-it notes were invented? Way back in 1968, the scientists at 3M were trying to create a superglue that could never be undone. They tried and tried and tried but instead of creating something super strong, they created the opposite: something that was super weak. Pretty funny, huh? Well, no one knew what to do with the weak glue, but they didn’t say, “Man, it sure does stink that we failed. Let’s throw this garbage away.” Instead they asked the Jigna question: “What else can we do?” Four years later, they got their answer. One of their scientists was singing in church and was frustrated that his pieces of notepaper, which he used as bookmarks, kept coming out of his hymnal book. He remembered the super-weak glue they had created earlier, and he asked himself the question: “What if I used the glue in my hymnal book?” Sure enough: With the weak glue the markers stayed in place, and they could be removed without ruining the book. 3M then developed what we now know as the Post-it note and turned their failure into one of the best-selling office products ever. See, when most people get stuck, they immediately give up or assume there’s nothing they can do. But not the Jigna. The Jigna always asks, “Is there another way? Is there something else I can do.?” And the Jigna finds a new way to win. So that the second thing you gotta do if you want to be a Jigna. When you get stuck, don’t be like most people who just cry and complain. Instead, be a Jigna and ask the Jigna question: “What else can I do?” Is there another way I can make this work? If you do, like Nikita, and like 3M, you will sometimes create your greatest victories out of your greatest failures.
