OpenStudy (help_me_pls):

Find a solution to the system of linear inequalities. (Which ordered pair “works”?) y < 3x + 12 y > 5x + 7 A. (1,2) B. (0, -1) C. (2, 17) D. (-2, -5)

OpenStudy (help_me_pls):

I'm so confused on how to do this.

OpenStudy (rzlearner):

The answer isnt too tough you can just substitute each of the coords given into both equations and see if the values make your statement true for example we could plug in the first coords in the first answer and see if they work. 2<3(1)+12 2>5x+7 Just solve the equations and if the right side makes the inequality sign correct then the coords in the answer are the right ones

OpenStudy (help_me_pls):

Is C. right? I got 17<18 and 17<17

OpenStudy (rzlearner):

sorry about the 2>5x+7...forgot to substitute the X but im sure you got it lol Give me a sec to look at the coords but 17<17 isn't correct because thats saying 17 is less than 17 when it should be less than or equal to. If you did the math right then C cant be the answer.

OpenStudy (rzlearner):

is it was 17 < or = 17 then yeah you'd have it right

OpenStudy (rzlearner):

*if

OpenStudy (rzlearner):

why don't you try checking out the 2nd answer and see if those work? :)

OpenStudy (help_me_pls):

It's C. In the document this is how the equation looks y≥5x+7

Make sure when having \(\large\bf{\le}\) or \(\large\bf{\ge}\) make sure to indicate with `>=` or `<=`.

OpenStudy (rzlearner):

ahh you should of mentioned the "≥" hahaha. Yup you got it :)

OpenStudy (rzlearner):

yeah its another way of indicating the ≥ or the less than or equal to symbol. Its more convenient when you don't know your way around a keyboard like myself as well

Thanks for the help!
