Find the reaction at A and B, please! http://prntscr.com/d10keq

OpenStudy (3mar):

We can firstly start with applying the equations of equilibrium; \[\sum M_A=0\] then \[\sum F_x=0\] then \[\sum F_y=0\] I have found out the force in the link CB but I am not satisfied about the directions of the two components of the reaction at A.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

I agree with your approach, that's all that is needed to find Ax, Ay, Bx, By. Ay may come out a little counter-intuitive, but considering Fcb is in compression, and drawing an FBD for AD will make it clear. (D is 4m from A). If still not resolved, continue. Do you have the bar CB in compression or tension? What is the magnitude of Fcb? Recall that CB is a two force member, so force Fcb is along CB. What did you get for Ay and Ax (with usual convention for signs)

OpenStudy (3mar):

@mathmate Can we discuss this now? or you are busy? Thanks in advance.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

sure! go ahead!

OpenStudy (3mar):

Thanks a lot!
