Help! FAN, MEDAL AND MY HEARRTTT
The product of two numbers is 65 their difference is 8. Solve and show work
Turn those words into variables! 65 = a + b 8 = a/b
Did I do something wrong for the first expression though? (Hint: I did.)
yea u have to swith them
8 = a - b 65= a/b
and switch the sign to minus
um, nope What does taking a product of two numbers mean?
Well if - is difference, and + is sum, what would words for * and / be?
a*b -- product a/b -- ratio
aw come on DanJS are you doing the learning or is the OP? (I think neither!)
i need to solve it -.-
oh sorry i meant 8 = a - b 65= a*b
now im confused how to solve
@adamaero
anyone?
@DanJS
product is what you get when you multiply
yeah you have the two equations correct a - b = 8 a * b = 65 to solve that for 'a' and 'b', you can substitute, solve one of them for a or b, then use that in the other equation
difference is what you get when you subtract
a - b = 8 solving for a , a = 8 + b use that for 'a' in the second equation a*b=65 (8+b) * b = 65
agree with @DanJS's process
