PLEASE HELP WILL FAN AND MEDAL!!!!!!!!!!! A landscaper is designing a flower garden in the shape of a trapezoid. She wants the length of the shorter base to be 3 yards greater than the height, and the length of the longer base to be 5 yards greater than the height. For what height will the garden have an area of 360 square yards? Round to the nearest tenth of a yard. a. 17.1 yards c. 39.2 yards b. 34.2 yards d. 152.6 yards

OpenStudy (akshvas):

Area of trapezium is [(sum of the parallel sides)/2]*height

OpenStudy (akshvas):

or you could simple divide the figure as a combination of 2 triangles and a rectangle and then sum up the areas of these 3 figures.

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

im confused still. could you show me what the equation would look like?

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

@AkshVas

OpenStudy (akshvas):

|dw:1477925821493:dw|

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

so it would be A! Thank you!

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

Can you help me with one more?

OpenStudy (akshvas):

It would be a quadratic equation where you'd have to ignore the negative root.

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

So would the answer not be A?

OpenStudy (akshvas):

yeah sure. @macabbey101

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

The lengths of the sides of a rectangular window have the ratio 1.2 to 1. The area of the window is 1920 square inches. What are the dimensions of the window? a. 40 inches by 57.6 inches c. 40 inches by 80 inches b. 40 inches by 48 inches d. 43.82 inches by 43.82 inches

OpenStudy (akshvas):

yes the answer to the previous problem is A

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

Nevermind the answer to that one is B!

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

But if you could help me with ONE more that would be amazing

OpenStudy (akshvas):

yes so let the length be 1.2 times x and the breadth be 1 times x (which is x)

OpenStudy (akshvas):

The area is length times the breadth

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

What value completes the square for the expression? x^2+16x

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

A. 64 B. 8 C. -64 D.-8

OpenStudy (akshvas):

|dw:1477926491633:dw|

OpenStudy (akshvas):

So the answer to your second problem is length =48 and breadth = 40

OpenStudy (akshvas):

answer to your last question must be 64

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

Yeah. can you help me with my third problem pleaseee?:) Thank you!

OpenStudy (macabbey101):

thank you!!!!

OpenStudy (akshvas):

(a+b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2

OpenStudy (akshvas):

as you can see the coefficient of x^2 is 1 , so a=1 carefully look at "16x" over there , you can write that as 2*1*8x so b=8 and basically the question asks you to find out b^2 which is 8^2 , that is 64.
