What are the steps for using a compass and straightedge to construct an equilateral triangle? Place the steps in order from start to finish. 1.Label the intersection of the two arcs as point C. 2.Use the straightedge to draw AC and BC . 3.Place the point of the compass on point A and draw an arc that passes through point B. 4.Use the straightedge to draw a line segment. 5.Label the endpoints A and B. 6.Place the point of the compass on point B and draw an arc that passes through point A and intersects the first arc.
wtf?
First you would need to draw a line segement so 4 first. You then need to label the points on either end of the line segment so step 5 is next.
Do not change the size of the compass. Place the compass point where the arc crosses the reference line and scribe another arc which crosses the previous arc. You now have three points which will define the equilateral triangle. Alternate Method for Constructing an Equilateral Triangle. i think
I believe we would stary drawing the arcs with center at point A so the next step would be 3 and then it would be 6. Then once the arcs have been constructed, at the place they meet we would label that as point C so next step is 1. Then we would use a straightedge to construct the lines between the points so the last step is 2. So the order is 4, 5, 3, 6, 1, and 2.
Wait a moment, 4 and 5 are the same ones.
