PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Why is the gravitational acceleration on the moon and the Earth different? Do you think you could shield a gravitational field? Can the gravitational field be shielded in a vacuum? Do you understand the concept of an inverse squared relationship?

Some question ! first part 'cos the earth has a LARGE mass, and the moon has a small mass. And grav accel goes UP as the masses get large. Someone else will prob post the actual formula which is basically newton's law of gravitation. multiply the two masses together and divide by their separation squared. NOT SHIELD EXACTLY, BUT there is a "place" between say the earth and the moon where the two grav ATTRACTIONS CANCEL. 'cos the earth is MUCH more massive than the moon, the place in q is closeish to the earth. In a vac ? Prob not. Otherwise the universe would all apart ? Since grav holds it together ? That's either Newtonian grav (or space time curvature grav - Gen Rel - Einstein et al) OF COURSE I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF THE INVERSE SQUARE LAW. I don't really understand very much at all ... probably least of all the "concept of understanding". But I've seen and heard that it is basically 1/r^2 and I'm enough of a sheep to go along with it. After all, they were "cleverer" than me were Newton, Einstein et al, WEREN'T THEY ? Professor RP Feynman, Caltech, Nobel prize winner, said, I think, once "I feel like a monkey clutching at straws". And he was at Los Alamos "designing" "the bomb" with others. What hope, then for me ? Please take this post with some humour, although the points I'm making I hope are valid and accurate. http://perendis.webs.com

a broken record or a record record ... ? Somewhere on this site I've recently posted some verbiage (may make sense ...) about "understanding" Spec and Gen relativity via distance-time graphs from advanced school physics/applied maths banged into MINKOWSKI diagrams, and curved space-time screwed out of/banged into POTENTIAL ENERGY diagrams. Idea was/is to try to suggest WHERE these high ferlutting ideas came from - "rabbit out of a hat pure magic of genius" ? OR .... ? Professor Feynman's bio, the bits of it I "know" about often makes me smile. I can't know how he felt when he and his co Nobels did what they did, but I can guess, and, as per in my case wildly guess. Bravo to them, and thanks for the medals to the awarders. Above all else, with a smile ....

ps i tried to pun on the thing about a "broken record" as being an old fashioned thing that was once called "stereo". But, i don't think it worked.
