Can you Multiply factors with decimals? How do you know where to put your decimal point in your answer?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

To multiply factors with decimals, multiply them as if they had no decimal point. Then count the numbers of decimal places to the right of the decimal points of the two factors and add them. Then count digits starting at the right side of the product, and place the decimal point in a way that makes as many decimal places as the sum above.
