Mathematical induction.. no idea how to start

OpenStudy (karim728):

OpenStudy (mhchen):

Okay so the first part of deh Mathematical Induuucctttionnn is to show that if n=1, then it's true.

OpenStudy (mhchen):

Oh you go that part down...

OpenStudy (mhchen):

So next is to show that (n+1) for n works. \[\sum_{i=0}^{n+1}i*2^i = n*2^{(n+1)+2}+2\]

OpenStudy (karim728):

ok is there a reason i=0?

OpenStudy (mhchen):

\[\sum_{i=0}^{n}(i*2^i) + ((n+1)*2^{n+1}) = n*2^{}\] See what I did to the summation?

OpenStudy (karim728):

because i was thinking |dw:1477952957024:dw|
