I think that John was brother to Richard the Lionheart "Coeur de Lyon" and kept hopping off to the middle east for a crusade, leaving his bro "in charge" so to speak. I think that J was a bit of a tyrant and ....
Though this is a guess, it could be helped by tracing the "origin" of such tales as "Robin Hood" which I think is based with King John's reign and maybe during the crusades.
Magna Carta means "Big Paper" and it as probably a whopper ! It's Latin/Old Italian.
