What pioneer species would be found where a glacier has retreated?
Algae? Crabs? Grass? Barnacles?
What do you suppose the correct answer is?
I'm not really sure.. I guess algae? lol
I think it would be grass but I'm not sure. >.< @countryboyswag can you please help? ;-;
Noob ;-; @Idkanything @Yanasidlinskiy
Grass or Algae depends on where it is...
I'm pretty sure it's not crabs cx
^ i dont think so either lol
I am thinking it will be algae because there wouldnt be soil would there
with no soil you cant have plants and such
so i am thinking the algae comes first and then that kinda paves the path for more things to grow and arrive
algae would need sunlight and some more stuff to survive tho and the area used to have glacier earlier implies that theres less sunlight and stuff i think it should be grass cuz i saw some pics of retreating glaciers and there was grass not so sure :d
hmm lool i dunno
but wouldnt primary succession occur and that includes algae and fungus and such? those start to normalize the land which then i think grass can grow after the soil is good again, i dont know i am still thinking algae x.x
um can algae survive in cold conditions??
Algae would be the answer :D Here are proofs :- 1) https://i.imgsafe.org/8b42e0f1e6.jpg 2) https://i.imgsafe.org/8b4630cf92.png Hope it Helps :D
i read somewhere that after a glacier retreated algae and lichen were the first pioneers
oky it must be algae
Asked my teacher and just got a response, It is indeed algae
Grass needs soil to grow up whereas algae needs moisture conditions ig
truu^
Thanks for the help every one :)
np :D
