OpenStudy (user123):

Why wasn't the police arrested or punished in black lives matter?

OpenStudy (helper101):

the reason why police is not being arrested is because they r da law

OpenStudy (user123):

what is it?

OpenStudy (user123):

the law says that the police can not shoot another if the person did not commit any crime as harsh as killing another being.

OpenStudy (alexatiger):

If police feel threatened they are allowed to use deadly force.

OpenStudy (helper101):

yep he's right

OpenStudy (alexatiger):

And police themselves were shot and killed, no one to send to jail exactly. Sometimes deaths are unwarranted and it's awful, but it's a no-win situation.

OpenStudy (user123):

"Can police officers shoot at fleeing individuals? Only in very narrow circumstances. A seminal 1985 Supreme Court case, Tennessee vs. Garner, held that the police may not shoot at a fleeing person unless the officer reasonably believes that the individual poses a significant physical danger to the officer or others in the community. That means officers are expected to take other, less-deadly action during a foot or car pursuit unless the person being chased is seen as an immediate safety risk."

OpenStudy (user123):

The police weren't shot and killed by the government

OpenStudy (alexatiger):

No, by certain people for racist or prejudiced ideas.

OpenStudy (roguehamster2073):

because they didn't do anything wrong, and it was proved that they didn't.

OpenStudy (user123):

The law says that it's wrong?

OpenStudy (alexatiger):

The law says it's wrong for police to abuse their power or for them to murder someone senselessly. Now in the case of manslaughter or to the fact that the victim was killing/hurting others themselves police are allowed to pull the trigger.

OpenStudy (alexatiger):

Manslaughter means by accident/ I didn't mean police are allowed for that to happen. Because you can still go to jail for manslaughter.

OpenStudy (user123):

blacks lives matter: victim caused no harm - victim was killed by police - police did not get punished by the government The government, however, sights the opposite. So my question is - Under what law was the police NOT punished? The law literally depicts that the police should not KILL another if they had not caused death to another. The police can shoot a fleeing man that has shot another man. Where in the law does it sight that the police can shoot whenever they feel harmed?

OpenStudy (alexatiger):

No all the "victims" described in black lives matter didn't cause harm. Some of them were in the wrong, and I agree they shouldn't have been killed. Why don't you look that up where you're citing all your other facts :)
