It would help you to turn the improper fractions of 25/3 and 42/3 into mixed numbers

OpenStudy (cecil_the_weasel):

Or in this case, one mixed number and one whole number

OpenStudy (cecil_the_weasel):

Well I need to go so here is some help before I leave. Think of fractions as a division problem. 1/2 is 1÷2 (or 1*?=2) 25/3 is 25÷3. So in this problem divide as normal and then put the remainder over the divisor (Which in this case is 3) so you can get a remainder in fraction form since the fractions are the original format of the problem. The number line is in intervals of 1/3 so you should be able to write it on a number line pretty easily. If all else fails... count all 25 (and then 42) 1/3s on the line. However, it is more accurate and with less room for error if you just do the math. Hopefully this helps! :D
