A.) Sounds more like the reason they left, not why they struggled B.) I think for the era we are talking here this is a bit early C.) Yeah, this was pretty rough D.) I don't know much about mining history in America, but I feel that this was not an immediate priority. Also, North America has a lot of natural resources so I don't see this being an issue
