The figure below shows a quadrilateral ABCD with diagonal BD bisecting angle ADC: A quadrilateral ABCD is drawn with BD as a diagonal. BD bisects angle ADC and forms two triangles ABD and CBD. AD and CD are equal in length. Which equation is true? AB = BC DB = 2DC AB = DB AB = 2AD

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

Sorry I forgot to post the picture

OpenStudy (welshfella):

You need to show that the 2 triangles ABD and CBD are congruent.

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

How do I do that?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

by SSS , SAS AAS etc

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

Ok give me a sec

OpenStudy (welshfella):

sorry gotta go right now

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

@jabez177

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

@Jaynator495 @Mehek14 @jigglypuff314 Please help guys

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Let me find someone who can help for you :)

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

Thank you so much

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

@AloneS

jabez177 (jabez177):

What grade is this?

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

It is geometry 10th grade

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

I just need help with two more questions

jabez177 (jabez177):

I'm out. :') @iYuko

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

I got this!

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Just give me a few minutes, my class is almost over, then i can help xD

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

YAY

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

ok

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

In the meantime, @.Sam. can you help them?

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Alrigty, finally! In about 30 seconds I will be able to help, if I disappear don't worry, I should be back shortly if I do!

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

Ok thanks

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

(My disappearing is why i normally don't help in math lol)

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Just one question, Are you in K12? This seems similar to work I have previously done :P

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

FLVS

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Ah.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

I'm just going to look over the problem really quick (So I can get the answer, then guide you)

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

ok

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Oh this should be fun... Alright let's start with what we know...

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

And..... Thats nothing

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Is there a diagram that came with the question, or will i have to make one based off of given information?

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

No it just gives me a picture and the problem

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

ok, whats the picture?

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

http://prntscr.com/d2nysw

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

PERFECT! that's what we needed!

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

|dw:1478196634730:dw|

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

It asks "Which equation is true? AB = BC DB = 2DC AB = DB AB = 2AD" Using this diagram we can figure this out.

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

ok

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

I was thinking it was D" AB = 2AD

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

|dw:1478196731273:dw|

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

CB should be BC... *facedesk* WELL ANYWAY

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

It's asking which is the same as the other, or congruent.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

is AB the same as DB?

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

No

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Good, is AB the same as 2AD?

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

I think so

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

No, It's not... What about DB and 2DC?

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

No

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Good, and what does that leave?

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

It leaves answer choice A

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Good! Do you understand why that is the correct answer?

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

No not really

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Alright, I'll explain it.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Triangle DAB is a reflection of the triangle DCB, so since AB, and BC are lines opposite of one another on a reflected triangle, they are congruent. Does this make sense? GOOD LORD HOW MANY TIMES I GOTTA TYPE THIS TO GET IT RIGHT, sorry lol

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

Could you check my answer on another one?

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Sure, but please post another question for it.

OpenStudy (civicsiscool44):

ok
