You will also use quotations around titles of articles, chapters, song names, and stuff like that- shorter works.
For example, an article named "The Biology of Defecation" by Lynn H. Porter.

When you are quoting something ? Either someone yakking (plenty of that happens) and you are writing it exactly as it was spoken, or when you want to copy what someone wrote word for word and indicate that it's someone else's words you are using.
