I think an image of the DNA model from Google Images would help.
Just remember to include things like the triphosphate backbone, the peptide bonds, and such.
it's some sort of "double helix", so I believe. A helix is how you'd wind a wire coil round something, or it's also maybe the correct name for a "spiral" staircase. Spirals are two dimensions, helices are three. The diameter of the helix is constant - sort of a cylinder.
