OpenStudy (bluetigress120):

What is the perimeter of rectangle ABCD if these are the points: A(0,0) B(0,5) C(10,5) D(10,0) A. 20 units B. 30 units C. 40 units D. 50 units

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

you can either realize that if you graph this its a simple rectangle or you can go the hard route and use the distance formula between AB and BC.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

drawing a rough graph is much easeir

OpenStudy (bluetigress120):

Okay I don't know how to graph and I don't know a what the distance formula. Do I just draw a rectangle and say that each corner are the points?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Yes.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

the perimeter is the sum of the 4 lengths.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

The perimeter is the distance around the rectangle.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

you know how to plot the points, right? then count the number of units on each side (point to point)

OpenStudy (bluetigress120):

I give up. This only confused me more than it helped

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Pretend that the rectangle is a field. Ask yourself how far do I walk if I want to walk all the way around the field.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Please don't give up :-)

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Four parts: 1) from A(0,0) to B(0,5) Distance from A to B is 5 units. 2) from B(0,5) to C(10,5) Distance from B to C is 10 units. 3) C to D 4) D to A Total distance traveled is (1) + (2) + (3) + (4) = ? You should get 30 units as your answer right? @BlueTigress120

OpenStudy (triciaal):

I am so sorry if I confused you. Never give up. Please read it would really help and I won't respond again. Don't want to confuse you.

OpenStudy (bluetigress120):

Thank you I understand how to do this now @skullpatrol

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Thanks for trying to understand :-)
