I ask, because I know that I can't write good poems all the time. That is reality. Everyday doesn't allow for a masterpiece to take place, and even if everyday was a masterpiece....I'm glad it isn't because it'd spoil me. 
My poems are far from perfect, but when I ask if it's alright or if I ask for feedback....I want to know if it's alright in the eyes of my readers. They ultimately draw the line on what I write and besides they give me more insight into what they see which helps me see as well and helps me become better.
