OpenStudy (michaelbp):

Signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln on May 20, 1862, the Homestead Act encouraged Western migration by providing settlers 160 acres of public land. In exchange, homesteaders paid a small filing fee and were required to complete five years of continuous residence before receiving ownership of the land.

Micheall i think your right

OpenStudy (schoolcool):

The Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act (the “Act”), codified at 15 U.S.C. §1701 et seq., regulates the sale of subdivided land that is marketed and sold through interstate commerce.ii Under the Act, lots in a subdivision offered for sale must be registered with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureauiii (the “Bureau”) and a property report provided to contract purchasers unless one or more of a defined set of statutory or regulatory exemptions apply (an “Exemption”). Though a variety of remedies are afforded to purchasers in circumstances where the developer fails to comply with the Act, of greatest importance is the statutory right of rescission of non- compliant purchase and sale contracts. This right of rescission generally runs for two years from the date the purchase contract is executed by the purchaser.
