OpenStudy (kiaras):

What is an effect of genetic drift on a gene pool?

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

So, google defines genetic drift as "variation in the relative frequency of different genotypes in a small population" this means that populations will experience changes in allele frequency. A gene pool basically defines the population's abundance of genes. So if genetic drift is affected, you might then be able to infer what could happen to the gene pool. Lets say that individuals in a population favor the recessive trait. Pretend that an individual(s) migrate into the environment with the dominant trait. This adds to the gene pool and can create genetic drift. The genetic drift is the fact that another trait was introduced into the environment.
