OpenStudy (zyberg):

Find the rational roots of this system of equation: (x+2)(y-4) = 12 (x+3)(y+1) = 36 Is there a way to solve this without ugly substitution? ;) Answers are: (1, 8) and (-1.2, 19)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

I'd try and check if there are any integer roots by factoring 12 and 36.. @Kainui @518nad

OpenStudy (zyberg):

But the problem is that I need to obtain one root that isn't an integer (-1.2).

OpenStudy (3mar):

"roots" means the solutions of the function and graphically they are the values where the curve touches or intersects the x-axis. |dw:1478622254768:dw|
