yeah, substitution means you solve one equation for a variable, and substitute that into the second equation as to reduce the variables down to 1 to solve for...
Here they have the first one already solved for a variable y. y=4x-3 You put that value for y into the second equation wherever y is at 2x + 7y = 41 2x + 7*(4x - 3)=41
