What is the most basic reason Christians began to build church buildings, or have them built?

You're probably in the wrong subject, but it's most likely to have a place to congregate/share beliefs. By having a place where beliefs could be unified, and a location for communication, beliefs could be expanded, cleared up, celebrated, and above all kept alive through the masses of people attending.
