http://prntscr.com/d572dc how would I do a triangle like this

OpenStudy (steve816):

The two angles are congruent! You would solve for x 34 = x - 5

563blackghost (563blackghost):

We are shown that two sides are equal this would indicate an isosceles triangle. So two sides are congruent and two angles. So `angle A is congruent to angle B`... \(\huge\bf{x-5=34}\)

How would I find the value of y?

OpenStudy (poto):

@563blackghost

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Well you would find x and then plug it into the equation `(x-5)` once this is done you would add it with 34 and then subtract by 180 `(since 180 is the total degree of a triangle)`. \(\Large\bf{180-(34+34)=C \rightarrow \color{orange}{180-68=C \rightarrow \color{red}{C=112}}}\) Next you would know that `4y` would equal to 68 so... \(\huge\bf{4y=112}\) Simplify :)
