Car rentals involve a $130 flat fee and an additional cost of $31.67 a day. What is the maximum number of days you can rent a car if you have a $500 budget?
take your $500 pay the $130 flat fee - how much do you have left? Post here and I will tell you the next step....
$370
ok good so that is how much you have to pay the daily rate divide $370 by the daily rate - that is how many days you can pay for (but remember you can only pay fo WHOLE days...)
since i can only do whole days do i round up 31.67?
no - you use 31.67 to divide THEN you round the answer.. (but not round UP)
@LunaCat please post your questin in a new thread
My mistake sorry :P
i got a decimal number 11.6829807389
so round to 12?
OK so can you afford 12 days?
yes
you can afford 11.68 days you can only have WHOLE days can you afford 12?
yes if i round up to the nearest whole number
if you hired for 12 days it would cost 12*$31.67 have you got that much?
this is a story problem, not a real life thing just if you thought otherwise.
I know that - but the rental company REALLY wants $31.67 for every day you have the car Can you afford 12 days?
yes
In your story - you have $370 how much will it cost to pay 12 times $31.67 for 12 WHOLE days?
(think in real life: You have $1.75 You WANT a drink costing $2.00 even though you might round 1.75 up to 2 can you ACTUALLY afford it?
