OpenStudy (word2):

Decreased estrogen levels allow osteoclasts to remain active beyond their normal lifespan. Based on this information, which of the following will result from decreased estrogen levels? Increased bone density and increased calcium in the blood >>>> Increased bone density and decreased calcium in the blood Decreased bone density and increased calcium in the blood Decreased bone density and decreased calcium in the blood

OpenStudy (word2):

@bonnieisflash1.0

OpenStudy (bonnieisflash1.0):

yes

OpenStudy (word2):

is the answer B?

OpenStudy (bonnieisflash1.0):

Estrogen is probably the most widely known and discussed of all hormones. The term "estrogen" actually refers to any of a group of chemically similar hormones; estrogenic hormones are sometimes mistakenly referred to as exclusively female hormones when in fact both men and women produce them. However, the role estrogen plays in men is not entirely clear. To understand the roles estrogens play in women, it is important to understand something about hormones in general. Hormones are vital chemical substances in humans and animals. Often referred to as "chemical messengers," hormones carry information and instructions from one group of cells to another. In the human body, hormones influence almost every cell, organ and function. They regulate our growth, development, metabolism, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, the way our bodies use food, the reaction of our bodies to emergencies and even our moods. HERE THIS SHOULD HELP

OpenStudy (word2):

but that doesn't tell me if bone and calcium levels in the blood would increase or decreased

OpenStudy (word2):

@celinegirl

OpenStudy (word2):

@jagr2713

OpenStudy (word2):

@AloneS

alones (alones):

You need this checked?

OpenStudy (word2):

yeah

OpenStudy (word2):

okay it;s either B or D

alones (alones):

Well either B or D

alones (alones):

O.m.g Lol you already said that r.i.p I'd go with D as my best choice.

OpenStudy (word2):

haha okay. i ASSUME that if your more likely to break your bones if calcium levels are low right ?

alones (alones):

Alright. Lol is that a new question? ;3

OpenStudy (word2):

lol thank you i got it .

alones (alones):

wait actually I'd go with B.

OpenStudy (word2):

how come?

OpenStudy (word2):

bone density is the measurement of the amount of calcium and other minerals in a segment of bone, so if there is a decrease in calcium in the blood wouldn't that lower the bone density ?

alones (alones):

Wait I'm confused, you're posting new questions or their all in one? x3

OpenStudy (word2):

this isn't a "new" question, i'm just trying to get confirmation and explain why i think it's now D

alones (alones):

No D wouldn't actually make sense in this case. B would be right actualy. Sorry I'm glitching ;~; I can't see some of the replies

OpenStudy (word2):

Sorry but can you explain why?

alones (alones):

Well because, those cells (osteoclasts), they crash your bones to increase calcium in your blood.

alones (alones):

Which makes me think the right answer would be C. @word2 you understand this? ;3

OpenStudy (word2):

i thought i did but now i am lost

alones (alones):

I'm not sure why you think it's B tho o.O

OpenStudy (word2):

no i thinks D.

alones (alones):

What makes you think so?

alones (alones):

I'm still going with C since your cells (osteoclasts) go to your bones which decrease your bone density because they crash it for your calcium which then they increase your calcium in your blood .-.

alones (alones):

Maybe I'm that stupid xP @AaronAndyson may you pleazee look at this .-.

alones (alones):

My fluttering god the wrong person @aaronq come'ere jeez

OpenStudy (aaronq):

osteoclasts break down your bones (made from calcium phosphate) and it would increase the \([Ca^{2+}]\) in your blood. so i agree with @AloneS that it is C

alones (alones):

Oh whew at least I got this one right cx

OpenStudy (aaronq):

so smrt :P

OpenStudy (word2):

wow i was so wrong

OpenStudy (aaronq):

It's good to be wrong, that's how you fix your mistakes and expand your knowledge, man lol

OpenStudy (word2):

thanks everyone for the help.
