CO2 and air both have oxygen ...I THINK it's what happens on a 24 hour cycle which has something to do with the actions of CO2 and air. Daytime is photosyn. Night time is "the other one" (i remember it, but just by the fact that it's there, not by knowing about it). 
I'm actually thinking about the basic "ingredients" of oxygen water and heat to make things happen.
I'm no expert in this ...
